On this page, you will find various curricular development materials I created for SPCM 335: Gender and Communication. As you will see in the syllabus, various aspects of this class take on a “Choose-Your-Own-Adventure” format, wherein students are able to choose from different possible assignments to earn points for particular assignment categories. To indicate their choices for Miscellaneous assignments, they choose from the “Assignment Bank” and complete a “Points Proposal” for each quarter of the class—both of these materials can be found on this page as well.

SYLLABUS

Course syllabus for SPCM 335.

ASSIGNMENT BANK

Includes assignments students can choose from for the "Choose-Your-Own-Adventure" aspect of the Miscellaneous Assignments category.

POINTS PROPOSAL

First quarter "Points Proposal" that students use to indicate how they would like to earn their writing points for the semester and their miscellaneous points for the first quarter of the class.

STUDY GUIDES

Students are required to complete a study guide for each unit of the course to check their learning and understanding. Guidelines for this assignment are included.

PAPER RUBRICS

Includes rubrics for all three possible writing options students are invited to choose from: Unit Papers, Midterm and Final Papers, and Final Research Paper.

SAMPLE LESSON PLAN

Lesson plan including activities, lecture, and discussion on topic of Developing a Critical Gender/Sex Lens.
